The debut album!
Nettie & the Delta Boy
Immerse yourself in the soul-stirring sounds of Nettie and The Delta Boy, where the gritty essence of red dirt blues meets the timeless allure of American folk. Recorded at Spellbound Recorders in Lebanon, Tennessee, and produced by the acclaimed Chris Justice, their upcoming album features 14 original tracks. Each song is a tapestry woven with Nettie’s gripping, poetic lyrics and complemented by Hill's iconic, tear-stained slide guitar.
History of the group
In a twist of fate, Nettie Rose Freed, a Californian songstress, met Daryl Hill, a seasoned blues guitarist from North Alabama, as he worked construction on her house. Fresh off the West Coast and into the rhythms of the South, Nettie was quickly enchanted by Hill's soulful strings at a local blues jam. Inspired, she asked him to collaborate. Together, they penned their first song, sparking the unique blend of gritty blues and poetic lyricism that would define the sound of Nettie and The Delta Boy.
The sound
Nettie and The Delta Boy meld the soulful strains of Delta Blues with the timeless storytelling of
American folk ballads. Nettie Freed's lyrics weave tales of heartbreak and raw, poetic emotion, while
Daryl Hill’s guitar resonates with the profound depths of Southern soul. Inspired by the lyrical
mastery of Bob Dylan and Townes Van Zandt, and the emotive power of Bessie Smith and Nanci Griffith,
their music harmonizes the elegance of Eagles with the rugged spirit of Outlaw Country.
This duo crafts
a poignant original sound and setlist that captures the essence of each note, making every performance
a deeply felt poetic exploration. Additionally, their set includes uniquely arranged covers that breathe
new life into traditional country, American folk blues, and the timeless sounds of a bygone era, ensuring
a rich and varied musical experience.
